Gripple Lands a Double Regional Best in National Business Awards Scheme

12th October 2018

In this year's British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) awards scheme Sheffield's Gripple, the employee-owned and celebrated manufacturer of the iconic wire fastener, has been named as the Best Employer in its region.

Not only was Gripple named the Best Employer in Yorkshire and Humberside but also selected as a regional winner in the High Growth Business of the Year category of the prestigious BCC awards scheme. Last year Gripple was voted Sheffield's Best Employer by Sheffield Chamber of Commerce of which Gripple is a member. Katrina Ritchie, head of people and culture at Gripple, commented: -As an employee-owned company all our staff, as shareholders, have the right to express their opinions in ensuring the company's success. "We are, therefore, delighted with both regional wins which demonstrate the benefits of focusing on our people. The BCC is the national representative body of 52 accredited chambers of commerce across the UK, representing 92,000 businesses. The Chamber Business Awards recognise and reward excellence in British business with the regional winners selected from hundreds of entries by regional judging panels. The national winners will be announced on November 29th in London when one will also be crowned Business of the Year. The 2018 Business of the Year will get to open the London Stock Exchange and also given the opportunity to work with Rada in Business, to join a one-day communication skills and impact course and win a unique staff development experience for up to 15 members of staff from Facebook. Winner of five Queen's Awards, the business sold its 600 millionth fastener in 2016, achieving turnover of £67m in 2017 by providing patented time-saving solutions within the construction, agriculture and viticultural markets. The company has 4000 customers and 650 employees, operating in four Sheffield bases, and regional hubs in Strasbourg, Chicago, New Delhi and Japan.
