Growth In Sales Sees Expansion for The Yorkshire Crisp Company
12th December 2018
The Sheffield-based Yorkshire Crisp Company is growing following an increase in sales for its award-winning range of delectable snacks.
With turnover boosted by 28% for 2017, the company has expanded into an adjacent unit which now gives a total of 14,060 square feet of space for manufacturing and office space. The producer of luxury, hand-cooked crisps and gourmet popcorn has renewed its current lease on the Waleswood Industrial Estate and with the new unit alongside, it now occupies four units in total at the business park, which is situated between Sheffield and Rotherham. Founded in 2005 by farmer, Ashley Turner, the company is proud of its local heritage with Yorkshire Crisps being produced from selected potatoes which are grown on the Yorkshire Wolds and the packaging sourced from Yorkshire suppliers too. The South Yorkshire location of the business is also key, giving easy access to suppliers and customers as well as employees. The expansion means that extra production shifts are now able to be put in place to cope with the growth in demand for the products, seeing the Yorkshire Crisps production line now in operation 24 hours a day. Yorkshire Crisps and Yorkshire Popcorn are available to purchase from its online shop as well as in many independent retailers such as farm shops, delis, coffee shops, sandwich bars, pubs, wine bars. The products are also on sale in selected Yorkshire branches of Morrison's and also John Lewis/Waitrose Food Halls. The company also supplies several hamper companies with crisps and popcorn in a 50g version of its unique stay-fresh, re-sealable drum which works very well for this, having a long shelf life. Titbits Gourmet Bites - delicious, lightly- baked, bite-size biscuits made from mature cheddar cheese and finest oats are a recent addition to the range and were created specifically for the hamper market. The drums are also very popular with theatre groups as they provide a quieter option compared to rustling packets! With continuing growth and the Yorkshire Crisp Company already exporting to Europe and as far as Uruguay, Hong Kong, Taiwan, South Korea and the United Arab Emirates, a taste of Yorkshire may soon be available globally Eee bah gum!
