Hat-Trick of Award Nominations for South Yorkshire Freight Company

29th July 2016

A leading international freight management company has been shortlisted for three categories at a major industry award ceremony.

512 (Sheffield) Ltd, which provides a full range of export and import services to businesses, has been announced as a finalist in the Employer of the Year, Air Freight Solutions Provider of the Year and Sea Freight Solutions Provider of the Year categories at the 2016 Global Freight Awards. Celebrating its 20th anniversary, the Global Freight Awards is the most prestigious ceremonies in the freight and logistics industry calendar and is designed to recognise and reward the best talent and achievements of the year. The judging panel, made up of experts from across the industry, said they were 'unanimously impressed by the quality of entries this year, so to make it as a finalist is an excellent achievement.' Karen Mosley, head of business development at 512, said: -We are absolutely delighted to have been shortlisted for three categories at the prestigious Global Freight Awards. -The awards are testament to the fact that South Yorkshire is becoming an increasingly vital area for exporting and how we as a company have created more opportunities for businesses to trade overseas. 512 (Sheffield) Ltd It manages up to 200 export consignments a day to thousands of locations around the world, providing support with airfreight, seafreight, courier, trailer documentation and insurance. The company has a site based at the Sheffield International Freight Terminal (SH-I-F-T) on Grange Mill Lane, Sheffield, which witnessed growth of 32 per cent last year, as well as a base at Doncaster Sheffield Airport's Business Park - a facility which provides exporters with a regional location to transport goods to thousands of overseas markets. Karen added: -The Global Freight Awards Employer of the Year Award is also a huge honour as we take great pride in the training and development opportunities we provide for our staff, which we call the '512 way'. Our business is driven by the people we employ, so by investing in their future with us, we are more likely to achieve the success we set out to. The recognition in the Employer of the Year Award follows the company's success at the 2016 British International Freight Association (BIFA) Awards Ceremony, where they won the Staff Development Award. Judges said that the business 'showed commitment to staff development with the implementation of a significant graduate and management training scheme.' As well as staff training, 512 also works in partnership with both the East Midlands and the Sheffield Chambers of Commerce to provide the International Trade Operations and Procedures (ITOPS) qualification. The ITOPS course, delivered by Fidelitas Training, enables students to build their knowledge of key import and export operations.
