Hesley Wood Scout Activity Centre Appeal for Chamber Members Help
4th November 2020
South Yorkshire Scouts Hesley Wood Centre are appealing for help from other chamber members following 2 targeted break-ins that have left the site vandalised, and without any of the essential power tools they need to maintain the buildings and grounds.
Stewart Butler from the Support Centre commented: “Many items stolen were brand new and had only recently been bought to replace those stolen a few weeks earlier.
It was clear the thieves knew exactly what they were looking for, as they came fully equipped to bypass the additional security we had put in place following the earlier break-in
“We have been closed for most of this year, and are struggling at the moment just to keep our head above water, so this is yet another big blow for us. We were hoping to celebrate our 75th birthday in 2021, but without help that will not happen”
The centre are now in desperate need for support from anyone that may be able to donate equipment such as petrol strimmers, chainsaws, leaf blowers, pressure washers etc.
All this equipment is essential to enable the team to keep the site functional, so that they can hopefully continue to provide an amazing outdoor experience to the young people of South Yorkshire in 2021.
If anyone is able to help please drop a line to site director Andy Moore (andy.moore@syscouts.org.uk) or call on 0114 246 8551
