Hill Dickinson embarks on a marathon campaign across five countries
25th March 2014
Law firm Hill Dickinson has launched an ambitious health and wellbeing initiative across its eight offices in an effort to raise £60,000 for charity.
Inspired by Senior Partner, David Wareing, who turns 60 this year, '60 at 60' will see the firm promote health and wellbeing across the business whilst helping community based charitable projects to raise funds and spread the healthy living message far and wide. Throughout the campaign David and teams across Hill Dickinson will be raising money for The Prince's Trust and other locally based organisations including Leukemia and Lymphona Research. Head of the Sheffield office, Alastair Reid commented: "It's an absolute pleasure to be involved in raising funds for such prestigious organisations, as well as promoting health and wellbeing within our local community. The Sheffield team will be training hard in the coming weeks to ensure we have a strong showing in the half marathon and corresponding events." As part of Hill Dickinson's community outreach, the firm are proud partners of Sheffield Wednesday FC and the club's Commercial Director, Andy Daykin said: -Clearly, health and wellbeing plays a major part in the club's contribution to the local community and anything which can be done by businesses to endorse the benefits is to be commended. Hill Dickinson are valued partners with Sheffield Wednesday and we are delighted to be supporting their initiative by providing expert advice for the preparation of those participating.- The ambitious initiative includes employees from all offices across five countries, with each team taking part in a locally based half marathon and with David participating in all eight races as follows: Monaco 16 March 2014 Liverpool 23 March 2014 Sheffield 6 April 2014 Athens 4 May 2014 Singapore 1 September 2014 Manchester 21 September 2014 London 12 October 2014 Hong Kong date to be confirmed Marking his 60th birthday in January, 60 at 60 was borne out of David's desire to celebrate the milestone in a manner that would inspire and encourage members of each of the firm's offices to collectively improve their health and wellbeing and that of the communities in which they reside. In line with Hill Dickinson's recent Investors in Diversity Award, the firm will promote diversity by requiring each team to have at least two members over the age of 50, two members of a gender other than that of the majority of the team, and two members who so far in their lives have been unable to run more than 10 kilometres. Alongside the half marathons, other activities will be made available for staff to participate in, with everyone being encouraged to play their part in 60 at 60 for their own benefit and the benefit of their local communities. Commenting on 60 at 60, David said: -While the prospect of taking part in eight half marathons over a seven month period is daunting, I hope this will encourage as many people as possible to take part in this worthwhile initiative. -The 60 at 60 challenge is a first of its kind for Hill Dickinson as this is more than just a fundraising initiative supporting charitable projects. We are encouraging the whole firm to actively participate in order to improve health and wellbeing on an individual and collective level. -If you would like to support our 60 at 60 challenge, we would appreciate any donations and involvement in fundraising opportunities which will help to provide moral support and take us closer to raising £60,000.
