hlw Keeble Hawson toasts rising hospitality stars

Top catering students at Leeds City College have savoured success and recognition at a Rising Stars Awards ceremony.

hlw Keeble Hawson has hosted the annual event for high-flyers of the College's Food Academy for the fifth consecutive year. The Food Academy nominated Daniel Lomas and Conner Corrigan, who are undertaking BTEC level three hospitality management and ISS level two food and beverage courses respectively, for the top honours. The talented duo were presented with their trophies by hlw Keeble Hawson managing partner, Paul Trudgill. Daniel has recently progressed to the level three supervisory course, having demonstrated excellent leadership skills and outstanding customer service. Conner, who aspires to be a chef, is raising his profile by entering cookery competitions while attending the Food Academy. Both winners were among a group of the Academy's best students who handled the catering arrangements for the event at The Leeds Club. A business card draw during the Winter Party raised £500 for St Gemma's Hospice. Paul Trudgill said: -Leeds City College Food Academy's fantastic service combines high quality food with the people skills of a top venue and the Rising Stars awards is an ideal event to applaud the talent of the future and to support the pivotal work and role of St Gemma's Hospice. Food Academy restaurant and sales manager, Luke Hepworth, said: -Daniel and Conner have both shown huge drive and passion in the kitchen, where their outstanding management skills have also been noticed. They are set to become leading lights of the Leeds hospitality sector and we wish them continued success. Laura Ferris, corporate fundraiser at St Gemma's Hospice, said: -We are very grateful that hlw Keeble Hawson has once again made us the charity of choice for this fantastic event at a time of year when our work is especially important for patients and their loved ones. -This continued support is vital as it costs more than £9 million to provide care for those across Leeds with terminal illnesses, as well as supporting their families.
