International Freight Company Expands Into Doncaster

27th April 2015

South Yorkshire's reputation as a key location for international exports and imports has been enhanced with the opening of a brand new facility in Doncaster.

Leading international freight management company, 512 (Sheffield) Ltd, has expanded to open a site at Doncaster Sheffield Airport's Business Park - a facility which will provide exporters with a regional location to transport goods to thousands of overseas markets. 512 provides a full range of export and import services to businesses. It manages up to 200 export consignments a day to thousands of locations around the world, providing support with airfreight, seafreight, courier, trailer documentation and insurance. The Doncaster base is the second key location for the business in South Yorkshire, which also has a site based at the Sheffield International Freight Terminal (SH-I-F-T) on Grange Mill Lane, Sheffield. 512's Sheffield office witnessed a 20 per cent growth in trade in 2014 and is already seeing an 11 per cent increase on this figure in 2015 to date. The expansion into Doncaster following the company's success in Sheffield is the first stage of plans to open a further five offices in the next five years to continue the increase of export and import opportunities for business across the South Yorkshire region. Karen Mosely, head of business development at 512, said: -We are thrilled to have opened out new facility at Doncaster Sheffield Airport. Having witnessed huge success and growth of our site in Sheffield, we were keen to create more export opportunities across South Yorkshire, and Doncaster seemed the obvious choice. -We are meeting more and more exporters from this area and we saw a chance to capitalise on the opportunities this can provide, both for us and for those companies wanting to transport goods overseas. -We are looking forward to building on our recent growth and plan to open more sites in the region in the coming years to further boost exporting from the area, as well as providing vital employment opportunities for local people. 512 provides graduate training schemes and Lee Wells, one of the company's first ever graduates who has successfully completed both the graduate and management programmes over the last four years, will manage the Doncaster office. Last year, 512 linked up with South Yorkshire International Trade Centre and Sheffield Chamber of Commerce to provide specialist support to students studying for the International Trade Operations and Procedures (ITOPS) qualification, to allow the students to build their knowledge of key operations in the international trade industry.
