International trade qualification extended to Sheffield

15th April 2014

An innovative qualification in international trade has been extended to Sheffield following its success in North Derbyshire.

The qualification, called the International Trade Operations and Procedures (ITOPS), will be provided by the South Yorkshire International Trade Centre (SYITC), in partnership with the Sheffield Chamber of Commerce. Specialist support will be delivered by Fidelitas Training, Sheffield International Freight Terminal (SH-I-F-T) and 512 (Sheffield) Ltd, to allow the students to build their knowledge of key operations in the international trade industry. ITOPS qualification, which is delivered over a four-day period, is designed to train candidates in how to manage administration procedures, such as documentation, payment and dispatching. It has been hugely successful previously with Derbyshire and Nottingham Chamber of Commerce, leading to SYITC increasing the course into Sheffield. 512 (Sheffield) Ltd, which is also a sponsor of SYITC, offers a full range of export and import services to businesses, managing up to 200 consignments a day to thousands of locations around the world. It is based at the international freight terminal on Grange Mill Lane and will be offering expert training to the students on the course. Karen Mosley, head of business development at 512, said: -It's great to see the ITOPS course extended into Sheffield. It has been very successful in Derbyshire and we're pleased to carry on our support into this region. -The workshops are a great way of condensing the course content into less than a week, allowing us to focus on specific areas of the qualification.Students will learn how to avoid costly mistakes and improve their current international trade procedures which is vital to making sure that businesses are running as efficient as possible. ITOPS is accredited by the British Chamber of Commerce (BCC) and the course is run at different stages throughout the year. It is suitable for anyone employed in an international trade environment including manufacturers, suppliers or freight forwarders. The four workshop dates held this year are 11 June, 18 June, 2 July and16 July.
