Irwin Mitchell Announces 6.9% Increase in Turnover

NATIONAL LAW firm, Irwin Mitchell, has reported a 6.
9% increase in turnover to £183.7m - with the firm's Sheffield office continuing to enjoy strong growth across its business and personal legal services divisions in the Yorkshire region. Commenting on the latest positive set of results, Group Chief Executive at Irwin Mitchell, John Pickering, said: Irwin Mitchell has continued to make considerable strides forward acrossYorkshireover the last 12 months, further establishing its position in both the personal and business legal services markets. These are certainly positive results and it is particularly pleasing to have grown the business during some very strong economic headwinds. The last financial year has seen significant internal investment in further enhancing our systems and processes, as well as recruiting a number of senior partners, including at member level. This is something which we are committed to and will continue to do so during the coming 12 months and beyond. Recent key hires in the Sheffield business team include DLA Piper's Yorkshire Head of Construction & Engineering, Julie Morrissy. Within its Personal Legal Services team, the firm has added Partner Denny Payton to its motor team. Across Yorkshire, Irwin Mitchell employs over 1,300 members of staff and has more than 50 Partners within its personal and business legal services divisions. Commenting on Irwin Mitchell's application to become an ABS and its plans to grow the business further by exploring and maximising the opportunities provided by the Legal Services Act, John Pickering added: We are continuing to work with the Solicitors Regulation Authority on our ABS application. Once licensed, we have an agenda which we will look to push ahead with focused on growing our business, including further internal investment, further improving the services we offer to our clients and looking for other opportunities with which to grow, including potential M&A activity if the right opportunities come along. We are looking to further strengthen in areas where we already have strong and market-leading positions, as well as building our offering and strengthening our market position in other areas as well. We have demonstrated that we are in the market for recruiting talented individuals and teams and we will continue with that strategy if the right opportunities come along. In addition to expanding its personal legal services team during the last 12 month, which includes personal injury, family, wills and trusts, Court of Protection and public law, the firm has continued to invest in growing its business team.
