Irwin Mitchell Announces Record Number of Associate Promotions

30th October 2015

Irwin Mitchell has announced a record number of Associate promotions for the third year in a row.

The national law firm has promoted 38 members of staff to Associate level with 14 in Yorkshire. In Irwin Mitchell's Sheffield office, Victoria Crossland from the Court of Protection team, Lynn Newhall from the motor team, Jeremy Smith and Zoe Broderick are promoted along with personal injury Solicitor David Withers. Sarah Field-Blesic, who works in the Business Legal Services team is promoted along with Robert Lankester, and solicitor Michael Hall. They are joined by real estate Solicitors Lisa Stratford and Kate McGovern. Dave Grimshaw from the group services team, and James Simpson, Trevor Piley and Ben Morris from IT are promoted. Group Chief Executive Andrew Tucker said the promotions highlight Irwin Mitchell's commitment to developing and promoting talent and that the large number reflects the high quality of applications. More than half of the newly-promoted Associates are female and the promotions, which become effective from 1st November 2015, reflect the broad range of business and legal services provided by the firm. Mr Tucker said: -These promotions represent a major investment in our services and demonstrate our commitment to developing our staff. They highlight the confidence we have in the future of our business and our ambitions to grow as a Group. Becoming an Associate is a significant career step and signals to clients and colleagues that the person concerned is a highly regarded expert in our business. Developing our people and creating opportunities for staff to develop their careers is one of Irwin Mitchell's most important objectives, and this is highlighted by the fact that many of the associates come from non-legal areas such as IT and HR. The number of successful candidates reflects well on the quality of people we have in our business. They have demonstrated their strengths and should be very proud of their achievements. The changes follow seven Partner promotions announced in summer and a series of investments made by the firm. In the past 18 months Irwin Mitchell has acquired private wealth firm Berkeley Law and opened new offices in Southampton and Cambridge.
