Speakers Include: Andy Ryder, Corporate Finance Partner at Shorts - Andy has over 15 year's Corporate Finance experience, principally gained at national firms PKF and subsequently BDO. He has advised on numerous transactions across a range of sectors and deal sizes from <£1m up to £50m. He has experience of raising debt, equity and mezzanine finance and has also undertaken a large number of due diligence assignments for funders. Matt Milnes, Corporate Finance Manager at Shorts Matt qualified and spent 11 years at a local accountancy firm (the latter 4 years in the corporate finance team) following which he joined the Commercial team of Lloyds Bank Plc spending 2 years supporting clients with their lending needs. This gave him a great insight into credit, security and bank processes which he is now able to apply to support Shorts' corporate finance clients. Chris Boyes, Investor at Business Growth Fund - Chris joined BGF in August 2013 and is based in Leeds. His role is to identify and execute investments for BGF, primarily across Yorkshire and the North East of England. As part of his role, Chris retains an active involvement with a number of our portfolio companies. Prior to joining BGF, Chris spent a number of years at Barclays, working in their acquisition finance team where he provided debt funding to privately owned, listed and PE backed businesses across a wide range of sectors. Chris had earlier gained experience in banking with The Royal Bank of Scotland which he joined as a graduate. Peter Sorsby, Investment Manager at Enterprise Ventures Group Limited - Pete joined Enterprise Ventures in early 2017, specifically to help deliver the Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund (Debt) into the Sheffield City Region, where he had previously spent a 28-year career in banking, the majority of this in the business and commercial segments of the SME sector Karen Walker, Director of Corporate, Global Trade & Receivables Finance at HSBC - Karen has over 30 years experience in an International Trade environment working for HSBC and previously Midland Bank. Her background is in International Trade operations, working with customers using traditional Trade products such as Documentary Credits and Collections For the last 13 years her role has involved structuring Trade solutions to meet customer requirements in order to manage payment risk, using traditional and non-traditional trade related products, as well as looking at ways of funding stock and export related manufacturing. She works with a wide range of businesses with turnover ranging from c £6m to £350m. Dave Postlethwaite, Business Development Director at HSBC - Worked for HSBC Group for 37 years, undertaking numerous roles as Relationship Manager, Asset Finance Manager and for last 15 years as Business Development Director HSBC Receiverable Finance . Responsible for putting together Working Capital Solutions for business in South and West Yorkshire Will Clark, Investment Director at Enterprise Ventures Group Limited - Will was previously a Director with 3i, based in the North West with responsibility for a £500million portfolio of investments across the UK. The earlier part of his career was spent with Ernst & Young as a member of its corporate finance team in Liverpool and Manchester. Will has been working with growth and venture capital-backed companies in the North West region since 1989 and in that time has been involved in more than 100 transactions.
