JRI Orthopaedics strikes gold with Investors in People award

8th October 2015

Yorkshire healthcare company JRI Orthopaedics is celebrating after being awarded the prestigious Investors in People Gold standard.

The multi-award winning Sheffield company joins the top seven per cent of accredited organisations across the UK who have achieved the benchmark of best practice in people management. JRI Orthopaedics, which employs 115 people, manufactures orthopaedic implants and surgical instruments at its state-of-the-art facility at Chapeltown. Managing Director Keith Jackson said: -We previously held IIP Bronze so to be awarded Gold accreditation is a tremendous achievement and I am very proud of the outstanding team we have at JRI. -This award not only reflects the calibre and commitment of the great people working here but also the strength of the JRI culture. JRI Orthopaedics, winner of the coveted marquee prize at the 2015 Made In Sheffield Awards, was founded 45 years ago by renowned orthopaedic surgeon Mr Ronald Furlong. The company, which is wholly owned by the charity Orthopaedic Research UK, is committed to giving patients a better quality of life for longer by providing the best solutions in joint reconstruction, repair and regeneration. It became the first in the world to use a hydroxyapatite ceramic (H-A.C) coating on hip replacements. H-A.C is a synthetic version of the natural mineral present in bones and, by perfecting the coating process, JRI was able to produce an implant that bonds biologically with the patient's own bone. The company's revolutionary Furlong H-A.C Hip has achieved exceptional clinical results over the last 30 years. Investors in People is the UK's leading accreditation for business improvement through people management, and provides a wealth of resources for businesses to innovate, improve and grow, with a focus on good people making great business. Paul Devoy, Head of Investors in People, said: -We'd like to congratulate JRI Orthopaedics on their Gold standard. Such a high level of accreditation is the sign of great people management practice, and demonstrates a commitment to staff development and shows an organisation committed to being the very best it can be. JRI should be extremely proud of their achievement.
