Kell Brook turns to Sheffield Hallam to lead him to victory

Sports scientists from Sheffield Hallam University are once again helping world champion boxer, Kell Brook, to prepare for one of the biggest fights of his life.
The IBF welterweight champion of the world will move up two weight divisions to challenge middleweight champion, Gennady Golovkin and has enlisted the help of strength and conditioning coaches at the University's Centre for Sport and Exercise Science to prepare him for the fight. The team of experts, the same team behind his 2014 title-clinching victory over Shawn Porter, have already been putting him through a series of physiological tests to look at his strength and speed. Alan Ruddock, Sheffield Hallam's lecturer in exercise physiology, said: "These tests allow us to assess what needs to be done when we get to camp. It allows us to see what areas we need to work on and how we can structure his training sessions and the exercises he does. "We will be performing tests that will isolate specific components of the way his body uses energy to analyse and evaluate his strengths and weaknesses." Kell will be a regular visitor to the University's sports laboratories over the next eight weeks as he undergoes a gruelling training regime in the build up to the fight on 10 September at London's O2 Arena. "I've worked with these guys before and we've achieved some great results," said Kell. "They've got everything a fighter needs here and they've got all the data on me so they know where I need to be. "I gel really well with the team here and this is the place for me to get the best out of me. They know me inside out and I am very confident that they can get me where I need to be." Kell's trainer, Dominic Ingle, said: "We're very lucky to have one of the best facilities in the world on our doorstep and Sheffield Hallam is the place to be if you want to assess which direction you're going in."
