Knight Frank Appointed to Barnsley R-evolution Scheme

16th April 2015

Sheffield, UK - The Sheffield office of property consultancy Knight Frank has been appointed to market R-evolution @ Gateway 36 - a new business park at junction 36 of the M1 near Barnsley.

R-evolution @ Gateway 36, located adjacent to the motorway off the Dearne Valley Parkway, is being speculatively developed and will create 65,000 sq ft of much needed commercial space within the Barnsley area. Knight Frank has been instructed by Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council to market the premises on its behalf. Construction is due to start imminently and is due for completion by the end of the year. Rebecca Schofield, partner with Knight Frank in Sheffield, said: -The R-evolution scheme is a mid-size industrial development, designed to offer modern flexible business space, ideal for companies wanting easy access to the M1 corridor "Three buildings of 13,000, 22,000 and 30,000 sq ft are currently under construction and will be available for lease. "We are confident that the accommodation will prove successful on completion as there is a significant shortage of stock in the market, particularly of any quality. Harworth Estates is developing the scheme on the site of the former Rockingham mining site, south of Barnsley. The development is supported by the Barnsley Jobs and Business Plan, a commercially focused blueprint for creating more jobs, a stronger business base and improved workforce in the area and has been directly backed by the council's Property Investment Fund. Mark Lynam, Head of Barnsley Council's Economic Development said: -This scheme is part of our wider plans to bolster confidence in the industrial property market within Barnsley, which will assist in bringing further development into the borough." Research from the office of National Statistics has highlighted that over 80 per cent of the potential workforce in Barnsley is economically active which exceeds the UK average. The three units being constructed offer flexibility on space and will include offices, dedicated car parking, large concreted service yards, 5m high loading doors, solar roof panels and a very good BREEAM ratings standard. R-evolution @ Gateway 36 is located one minute from junction five miles from Barnsley, 10 miles from Sheffield and Rotherham, 17 miles from Doncaster and 25 miles from Leeds.
