Last Weeks Appointment of the New Prime Minister, what are the Business Priorities for Sheffield?

18th July 2016

The UK is in uncharted waters and we need the new Prime Minister to focus on the right areas to bring a bit more stability and direction back, and not get drawn into potential new elections and referendums.

We also need to ensure that the economic development of the north is at the forefront of her thoughts. Sheffield Chamber intends to produce a simple manifesto of 5/6 key items that we in Sheffield think the government should prioritise and send it directly to the Prime Minister. It would be tremendous if this initiates a visit to the city, to see what we have to offer and how we can support her, in her new appointment in the 'interesting' months ahead. We value your input and would like to give you the opportunity to provide us with your top 2/3 priorities, as an employer and ask that you send your feedback directly to our Executive Director, Richard Wright at richard.wright@scci.org.uk by the end of July. We will collate all of the responses and will ensure we focus on the main priorities for your business and the region as a whole. From our findings we will generate a full report and will forward to the Prime Minister for her consideration. The Chamber is taking a pragmatic view of the referendum. We are where we are and there are still opportunities and threats like before. We need to focus on the opportunities (exports and local/national sourcing) and work together, where possible to minimise the threats. We are here to help you and your business and encourage you to contact the us if there is anything you think we might need to do or we should be aware of. We look forward to hearing from you.
