Laura Cowan Becomes SFE (Solicitors for the Elderly) Accredited member

Laura, who joined Taylor Bracewell in September 2017 works within the Wills, Probate & Trusts team dealing with all private client matters including probate administration, wills, Lasting Powers of Attorneys and trusts.

Laura is one of a few lawyers in the local area who is a Solicitors for the Elderly (SFE) Full Accredited Member. SFE Members have spent a lot of time working with elderly clients and follow a strict code of practice to ensure that they receive the correct and best information for their needs. Laura Comments "Solicitors for the Elderly has very high standards to ensure its members are giving the best advice to elderly and vulnerable people and I am proud to be a member" Laura is also Chair and a very active member in Sheffield SANDS, a regional branch of the national stillbirth and neonatal death charity. The charity is based in Sheffield but helps people all over the South Yorkshire region. Having gone through her own experience, Laura found that there was a lack of support in the region and in 2017 accepted the role as Chair of the charity. The charity has a monthly support meeting and is involved in many different activities to raise awareness and help those who need it. Parents who have been through the experience can feel alone and lost, and the charity is working hard to let people know they are not alone. The charity also works with hospitals to provide training to staff in how to deal with situations and to provide ongoing support to staff and patients.
