21st July 2015

Sheffield & District Law Society has chosen Age UK Sheffield as its charity of the year for 2015.

One of five shortlisted charities, Age UK Sheffield received the prestigious pledge of support as part of the new President Rachel Baldwin taking office. Winning the title offers Age UK Sheffield the chance to raise funds for and awareness of its work through the Law Society's social evenings and profile-raising opportunities. President Rachel Baldwin said: -Age UK Sheffield is a charity close to my heart as they work to make life better for the older generation. -The people that Age UK Sheffield works with are the people who worked hard and who have given us many of the opportunities that we now enjoy. As such I intend to spend my year as President giving something back. Age UK Sheffield Chief Executive Rosalind Eve said: -We're really honoured and very pleased to have been chosen for this wonderful opportunity. -I'm sure our association with Sheffield Law Society will help us raise further awareness of our work to improve the quality of life of thousands of older people across the city, and our services which helppeople in later life regain and maintain their independence.
