Legal 500 continues to rate hlw Keeble Hawson as a key player

hlw Keeble Hawson is marking success across 12 practice areas in the newly released Legal 500 rankings - with 17 lawyers recommended across both commercial and private client practice areas.

One of Yorkshire's largest law firms with offices in Sheffield, Leeds and Doncaster, its continuing rating as a key player by Legal 500 saw the practice awarded Tier 2 rankings in five areas and Tier 3 in three areas. Among teams that score highly once again is the Employment Department, headed by the 'approachable' Barry Warne. Commended for being 'excellent, pragmatic and business focused', it specialises in dismissals and disciplinary matters in the manufacturing and engineering sectors. Led by Michael Peacock, the Commercial Litigation team is recommended for its strength in the local manufacturing sector, with the 'extremely proactive and exceptionally knowledgeable Sarah Burton' singled out for particular praise. Clients include Electrosteel Casting, who the firm represented in EU anti-dumping and anti-subsidy complaints against it. hlw Keeble Hawson's Debt Recovery team is described as a 'fantastic department' under Rachel Crookes and commended for its combination of 'excellent service across the board with a friendly approach and commerciality to match'. Debt recovery manager, Charise Marsden, was applauded for being 'positive and very efficient.' This year's Legal 500 also praises the firm for its private client practice areas, including Family Law, with its particular strength in matrimonial work under the leadership of 'skilled litigator' Vanessa Fox. Janet Baker, who heads Clinical Negligence and birth industry specialist, Georgina Peckett are also recommended. The 'well prepared' and 'efficient' Personal injury team under Mark Hollinghurst in Doncaster and the 'exceptionally thorough' David Jones in Sheffield is noted as is the cross-departmental Sport team. Under the leadership of Giles Searby, clients include Southampton FC, Sheffield Wednesday FC, Sheffield Eagles, specialist sports companies and individuals.
