Legal 500 recognises Freeths trio as Green Ambassadors

5th December 2024

Three Freeths lawyers have been named Green Ambassadors in this year’s Legal 500 Green Guide, highlighting the firm as a leader in sustainability practice.

Formerly focused on firm contributions, The Green Guide’s new research now recognises some of the top legal professionals championing sustainability in major regions and markets across the world.

This year, Freeths Partner and Head of Clean Energy Clare King, Partner and Head of Environmental Law Penny Simpson, and Sustainability and Waste Director Kirstin Roberts were all named as Green Ambassadors, after being identified as key lawyers making significant contributions to the green transition.

Clare was recognised for her work on major clean energy projects for clients such as Centrica plc and ENGIE, as well as her deep technical knowledge across a range of clean energy technologies.

The Legal 500 praised Penny for her market-leading work with clients in natural environment law and natural capital law. Penny and her team offer market leading solutions to clients who wish to negotiate, or capitalise on, increasingly complex nature protection regulation and all other aspects of environmental law.

As a leading expert in the waste and renewables industry, Kirstin Roberts was highlighted for her sustainability work in guiding publicly listed companies, SMEs and local authorities on waste reduction and re-use.

Commenting on the news, Senior Partner at Freeths Philippa Dempster said:

“A huge congratulations to Clare, Penny and Kirstin on this recent accolade which is a real honour for them as individuals and for the firm. I’m incredibly proud of what they have achieved through their career and personal endeavours in driving forward the green agenda.

“With no other firm having more than three lawyers recognised in the Guide, this truly highlights just how highly regarded we are when it comes to helping clients decarbonise and improve their sustainability.”
