Leisure operator awarded golf course management contract

Leisure operator Sheffield City Trust (SCT) has added a fifth golf course to its portfolio after winning the contract to run Sinfin in Derby.
SCT has been awarded the management, operation and development contract for the 18-hole course, home of Derby Golf Club. The new operator, which already runs four other golf courses in Chesterfield and Sheffield, will invest a six figure sum in upgrading the course and its facilities. SCT will also introduce cheaper rounds as well as its popular Golfit membership package and goGOLF scheme. It means members of the Golfit scheme will now have unlimited access five courses including the 6,185 yard Sinfin, Tapton Park in Chesterfield and Beauchief, Birley Wood and Tinsley Park in Sheffield. SCT is also introducing its popular goGOLF scheme at Sinfin Steve Brailey, chief executive of SCT, said: -Winning this contract reinforces our position as one of the UK's leading leisure providers and we look forward to working on this exciting new project at Sinfin. -In recent years, there have been upgrades to the course facilities and we'll be working to build on this to grow participation. -As well as further investment in facilities, we'll be introducing a range of membership and learn to play packages at Sinfin designed to attract even more people of all ages and abilities to get into golf and also strengthen the talent development pathway. Sinfin Golf Course, which was constructed in 1923, is a par 70 parkland course with narrow tree-lined fairways. Facilities include a club house with locker rooms and showers, a bar, pro shop, club and trolley hire and free car parking. Every year, the course attracts more than 22,500 visitors and plays host to golf competitions and club tournaments. Steve added: -At Sheffield City Trust, our charitable objective is all about improving health and wellbeing by providing facilities for sport and leisure activities. -By adding Sinfin to our portfolio, it will give our Golfit members even more opportunities to play with unlimited access to the course as part of our membership scheme".
