Local Business Proves UK Tech is Alive and Well!

16th March 2012

These days, if you turn on the television, you're likely to see stories of companies laying off staff and making losses.

Award-winning digital agency  3Squared are bucking the trend. In fact, they're moving at a pace, just like the technology they harness on behalf of their clients. The Sheffield firm's expansion over the past ten years has seen them grow to a team of 20. Just recently, they have outgrown their original home on the Moor, and invested in new, larger premises in the city centre's Fountain Precinct. Rt Hon David Blunkett MP officially opened the new offices on Thursday 15th March, and said: 3Squared are becoming one of the leading lights of our region's thriving creative and digital industry. I am sure they will continue to grow, creating jobs and showcasing the huge talent we have in our area. The success of 3Squared, who recently won the Digital Industries Award in the prestigious Sheffield Business Awards, puts paid to the comments made last year by Google's Chairman, Eric Schmidt. Delivering a lecture in Edinburgh, Schmidt angered many as he criticised the UK education system for not teaching technology in schools and failing to properly nurture tech start-ups, despite being the country that invented the computer.  3Squared Commercial Director James Fox said, The UK's digital industry is going from strength to strength, and we're living proof of that. We're flourishing despite the tough economy, and in part, that's due to the immense pool of talent and creativity we have in this country. We pride ourselves on the fact that we regularly take on placement students and then employ them full-time once they've finished their degree. It helps us to stay on the forefront of technological change and then deliver that expertise to our customers. 3Squared have been developing innovative websites and software solutions for 10 years and have worked with some of the largest businesses within the UK, as well as Europe and the USA. Recently, they've developed a particular expertise in the development of mobile apps, working for a diverse range of clients across the health, retail, leisure and entertainment sectors. Fox said, Moving to new premises will allow us to continue growing, and offering more services to our customers. We're confident about the future of our company as well as the UK technology industry in general.
