Local charity Cavendish Cancer Care join the Sheffield Chamber of Commerce
24th June 2019
The up and coming local charity, Cavendish Cancer Care, is delighted to announce we have become a member of the Sheffield Chamber of Commerce.
We are a Sheffield-based charity dedicated to improving the quality of life for those living with cancer and their loved ones. Since 1991, we've been helping people across South Yorkshire, North Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire. A cancer diagnosis has a huge impact on patients and their families. We strongly believe no one should face cancer alone. From our centre at 34 Wilkinson Street and a handful of outreach centres, we offer free of charge counselling and therapies to help people to come to terms with what is happening to them or their loved one, to reduce their stress, manage their pain and help them to find a way to live life to the fullest despite a cancer diagnosis. In 2018, we provided 4,123 free therapy sessions, with our youngest client being 3 years old and our oldest, 97! 92% of clients who reviewed our service say their overall quality of life was improved by our support: a testament to the value of what we do. We rely almost entirely on the generous support of volunteers, fundraisers and donors. The runners, bakers, party-makers and bucket-shakers. We receive a small amount of NHS funding, but this only covers the cost of keeping our doors open for two weeks. Emma Draper, Executive Director of Cavendish Cancer Care, is excited for the future of the charity saying -Joining the Sheffield Chamber of Commerce is vital in our next steps of supporting more people across the region. Through the Chamber we can reach more businesses and employers to tell them about the wonderful work the charity provides in supporting the well-being of those affected by cancer. If you and your workplace would like to get involved, please don't hesitate to get in touch we love to team up with businesses from the Sheffield City Region for exciting partnerships, in whatever way works for you. Want to hear what we've got coming up? On the 28th June we have our Work A Day Campaign. This is for those people who are busy bees and are looking for a way to help a local charity without the stress and time to plan a fundraiser. You simply do your day's work as normal and donate part of the days wage's to Cavendish through Just Giving. Find out more and pledge to take part here - https://cavcare.org.uk/work-a-day/ Alternatively, if you're more of the active, team building group, then our Sunset Stomp would be perfect! On the 11th July, we're making our way across to the Norfolk Arms in Ringinglow for a relaxed 10km stroll in the Peaks, finished off nicely with a gourmet burger BBQ at the Norfolk Arms.
