Long-Serving Staff Notch up over 1,300 Years of Service

15th August 2013

Staff at BMI Thornbury Hospital, Sheffield, celebrated a rare achievement, notching up over 1,300 years of service between them.

Nearly 150 members of staff from various disciplines including nurses, medical secretaries and kitchen workers were recognised at the Long Service Pin Awards, held at Baldwins Omega banqueting venue in Sheffield. Staff who have worked at BMI Thornbury Hospital for five, ten, 15, 20 and 30 years received a special pin adorned with emeralds, diamonds or rubies depending on their years of service. David Mills, Executive Director of BMI Thornbury Hospital, comments: -BMI Thornbury Hospital is steeped in Sheffield's history and the staff are at the heart of the local community.  Most of our staff are from the city and for them to have stayed with us for so many years is a real honour.  Without them, the hospital wouldn't be able to provide the great local service that it does today.
