Lost Chord

20th February 2013

Lost Chord is dedicated to improving the quality of life and well being of people living with dementia throughout South Yorkshire.

We use highly trained professional musicians who work closely with the people struggling to cope with dementia. It is well proven fact that music has the most beneficial effect on the brain which is why we use music, stimulating some amazing responses from people who are often unable to walk, talk, feed themselves or communicate in any way. It is a ground breaking Charity which aspires to affect the lives of every person struggling with dementia in the country. There are more than 800,000 people diagnosed with dementia in the country. There is no cure and, in the absence of any really effective treatment, music is the one thing that they all, without fail, respond to. It seems to reach into their very souls and unlocks the door behind which a frightened, intimidate and humiliated person hides. There is no statutory funding for the service we offer therefore we desperately need your support. Dementia is the most devastating, debilitating and demoralising disease I know and if you would like to help transform the lives of those suffering in this way please visit our website www.lost-chord.org.uk  or ring 0779 0649 305 to find ways you can get involved both as a volunteer but also attending some of our fundraising events like our Golf Day on 24th May or running in the Half Marathon on 12th May and for the less energetic there is a concert in Leeds Town Hall on 3rd March to help raise invaluable funds for Lost Chord.
