Low Carbon event has businesses seeing green

7th June 2012

On Tuesday 12 June, a new event will bring businesses in the Sheffield City Region together to find ways to collaborate and create new products and services to become greener and more energy efficient.

The free conference will give businesses the opportunity to discuss new product and service developments as buyers and suppliers. A panel of expert speakers will be addressing energy efficiency in business, the use of green energy and the future legislative drivers in the market place surrounding energy and waste. Business people will also get the opportunity to take part in a group discussion where they will be able to debate questions and share ideas on gaps in the market relating to green issues affecting business. Nick Tovey, Wardell Armstrong LLP Director and Chairman of the Low Carbon Sector Group, will join a panel of five other experts at the event. Nick said, -Energy and waste costs represent a huge overhead to businesses, and the savings that can be made by being greener and more energy efficient can mean the difference between profit and loss. There are many new opportunities for business in new products and services. -We have had a lot of interest in the event from businesses looking to stay ahead of the competition by keeping on top of technological, legislative, and other developments in the low carbon sector. -A diverse range of related topics and perspectives are going to be covered by our panel, which is made up of experts in law, environmental protection, sustainable energy and recycling. The event has been organised by the Sheffield City Region Low Carbon Sector Group and Sheffield Chamber and sponsored by the Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) and the Environment Agency. The event is taking place at the Source, Meadowhall from 8am to 1pm on Tuesday 12 June. For tickets, visit the Sheffield Chamber website www.scci.org.uk and book online through their online events calendar.
