Magna and Wales High School host Christmas Lunch for Care Home Residents

On Tuesday 18 December Magna joined forces with pupils from Wales High School to host a special Christmas lunch for 50 residents of care homes from across the Rotherham borough.
Students were involved from the outset designing invitations, menus, table decorations and music through to preparing, cooking and serving the lunch on the day. The event follows the fantastic success of the Big Feast project held earlier this year, a similar co-production which saw Magna giving Wales pupils valuable first hand work experience. The award winning conference and events centre in Rotherham which annually hosts a wide range of events including dinners, awards, music and sporting nights, exhibitions and wedding receptions. The impressive Red Hall was resplendent as special guests were welcomed from four Rotherham care homes including Trenton Grange, Waterside Grange, Silverwood and Rotherwood with festive entertainment provided by Year 10 and 11 pupils playing and singing throughout the meal. "As a school, we are very proud of our charitable work and highlighted a need to help the local community even further. "In partnership with Magna we have welcomed the elderly residents of our community to a fantastic afternoon whilst also giving our students valuable work and life experience. "It has been a pleasure to share the day with over 50 residents from across the Rotherham borough". A totally self-funded charity, Magna has been working with local schools and community groups to help give work experience opportunities across all areas of the organisation. "Many of the residents have seen Magna evolve over the years from one of the world's largest manufacturing steelworks to today as a visitor attraction and event centre.
