Major Companies Descend On Leeds For The Taking Responsibility For Business Awards

Almost 100 people from an array of companies packed into the Thorpe Park Hotel in Leeds for the Yorkshire Water Taking Responsibility for Business Awards on Wednesday (March 19).

The top award of the event, the Chief Executive's Award, was picked up by energy company E.ON for their investment in a unique rainwater, process water and trade effluent recovery and treatment system which is allowing the business to be largely self-sufficient for process water. More than 20 companies attended the awards including Coca-Cola, Premier Foods, E.ON and National Railand the aim of the event is to help Yorkshire Water and its key customers work together closely on their water use. Other winners on the nightincluded Berendsenlaundry services, Friarage Hospital, East Riding of Yorkshire County Council, Covance, Humberside Police and St Catherine's Hospital in Doncaster. Almost 30 entries were received across the six categories and the awards were first assessed by a panel before a second round of judging took place. The Taking Responsibility for Business Awards are strongly aligned to Yorkshire Water's strategic business objectives and the categories were: Sustainable use of resources Humberside Police Excellent catchments, rivers and coasts East Riding of Yorkshire County Council Water-efficient regions Rotherham, Doncaster and South Humberside NHS Trust St Catherine's Hospital (Doncaster) Trusted company Covance Safe Water Friarage Hospital (Northallerton) Strong financial foundations Won by Berendsen
