Master Cutler is helping to bring MRI Simulator to Weston Park Hospital

1st December 2025

Master Cutler, Professor Keith Jackson, is supporting the 'see it. treat it' appeal to help raise £1.85million to bring state of the art MRI Simulator to Sheffield.

The Company of Cutlers in Hallamshire has proudly announced Weston Park Cancer Charity as the Master Cutler’s Charity of the Year, supporting their latest appeal, ’see it. treat it.’.

This initiative focuses on one powerful idea, the earlier cancer is seen, the sooner it can be treated, and the better the outcome for patients. Every pound raised will help Weston Park Cancer Charity bring a breakthrough MRI simulator cancer scanning machine to Weston Park Hospital. This advanced machine provides superior scans, allowing for more precise targeting of cancer cells whilst sparing healthy tissue.

The Impact: Seeing It Sooner, Treating It Better

1. Patients – Improved targeting means more effective treatment with fewer side effects and fewer hospitals visits.

2. Staff – Attracts and retains top medical talent, offering opportunities for professional growth of the NHS services.

3. Community – Enhances local healthcare, ensuring our families and friends receive the best care close to home.

4. Research – Provides exciting opportunities for cancer research in adaptive radiotherapy – the future of precision medicine by utilising advanced technology.

The funds raised through the Master Cutler’s Challenge will go towards the ‘see it. treat it.’, ensuring that patients in South Yorkshire, North Derbyshire and North Nottinghamshire receive the very best care, close to home.

Why the Master Cutler Chose Weston Park Cancer Charity

The Master Cutler has a deeply personal connection to this cause. During his Master’s degree at the University of Aberdeen, he used an MRI scanner as part of his thesis research, at the very institution where MRI technology was first developed. This early exposure to the life-saving power of medical imaging helped shape his long and distinguished career in medical technology.

Now, as Master Cutler, he is championing Weston Park’s ‘see it. treat it.’campaign to support the next generation of diagnostic innovation and ensure that patients benefit from the latest advances in cancer detection and care.

The Mistress Cutler, a former GP, brings her own frontline perspective to this cause. Having supported countless patients and families through the anxiety of diagnosis and treatment, she understands the profound difference that early detection and compassionate care can make. Together, the Master and Mistress Cutler are united in their commitment to improving cancer outcomes for people across South Yorkshire.

How to Get Involved;
Businesses, community groups, and individuals across the region are encouraged to get behind the ‘see it. treat it.’ appeal through fundraising, sponsorship, and events throughout the year. Every donation, large or small, brings us one step closer to transforming cancer care in our region.
