Mattress Online Listed in Elite Business 100 Top SME Businesses 2023

22nd March 2023

Mattress Online, award-winning online mattress retailer, has been named as one of the UK’s official Top 100 SME Businesses by Elite Business Magazine.

The prestigious Elite Business 100 Top SME Business Awards, in association with Elite Business Magazine, champions new business and is interested in startups and SMEs that are spearheading Britain forward – focusing on the real movers and shakers in enterprise.

Believing it is important to highlight Britain’s best SME businesses, the Elite Business 100 list is published as an annual definitive league table to celebrate business excellence in the UK.

Mattress Online has ranked at seventh place this year and received the Elite Business Top 100 Innovation of the Year Award.

Launched to provide an alternative solution to mattress shopping, Mattress Online has grown from humble beginnings storing mattresses in a garage 19 years ago and in the past financial year, turnover has reached almost £30m.

Mattress Online is now the largest independent mattress retailer in the UK, employing 73 people and has built an excellent reputation for customer service, quality, and innovation. Building on this, the company recently opened physical stores in Sheffield, Rotherham, and Skipton as part of their ‘clicks and mortar’ expansion plan.

Mattress Online has seen a great level of success over the past 12 months and its incredible achievement has been recognised on a national level. This not only includes its ranking on the #EB100 list but also the Ward Hadaway Yorkshire Fastest 50 Awards (ranking tenth) and the FEBE Growth 100 (ranking 68th).

Customers have rated Mattress Online as ‘Excellent’ on Trustpilot, with 95% of customers saying they would buy from the company again.

Steve Adams, CEO at Mattress Online, said: “I’m elated by the EB100 results. We didn’t expect to rank as highly or to be taking home an additional award but to be recognised nationally on this scale is incredible.

“We’re a retail business in a traditional market but we lead from the front with innovation and our own tech and that’s fairly rare for a retailer, especially an e-commerce retailer. We’ve built from the ground up, developed our own website, our e-commerce platform, we have our own back-end systems – all developed with the customer at the forefront.

“We want to make our transactions as smooth and easy as possible and I’m so proud that we have won this, it’s a testament to the whole team’s hard work.”
