Meadowhall announces final Bluebell Wood total

13th June 2018

From a spectacular abseil down the central dome to a charity single by folk singer Kate Rusby, every penny raised in a two-year partnership between Meadowhall and Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice has now been counted, with the total confirmed as a stunning £128,000.

Meadowhall chose the charity, which supports families facing the toughest of times across South Yorkshire, North Derbyshire, North Nottinghamshire and parts of North Lincolnshire, as its charity of the year for 2016-17. Over that time funds were raised at the regional shopping centre through monthly mall activities, Christmas concerts, Supercar Experience events, the Meadowhall Retail Awards and more. Darren Pearce, Meadowhall's Centre Director, who visited Bluebell Wood to officially celebrate the final total, said: -We're absolutely delighted that the incredible efforts of everyone at Meadowhall, our retailers, shoppers, partners and colleagues, have helped to raise this fantastic amount for Bluebell Wood. It's hugely important to us as a premium fashion and lifestyle destination to give something back to worthwhile causes across our region, and in its support of families in their hour of need, Bluebell Wood certainly fits the bill. We're all really pleased that this two-year relationship has proved to be so successful. Rachael Dawes, Community Fundraising Manager, Bluebell Wood, said: -We'd like to say a huge thank you to Meadowhall and every single person who played their part in helping to raise this amazing total. This money will make all the difference to the children and young adults we support and help them enjoy so many things, from arts and crafts and music to movie nights and trips out. It will also support our families during the toughest of times, with services such as counselling and end of life treatment and care.
