me&Dee’s visit to The Nottingham Panthers with DNS

21st February 2022

DNS's chosen charity me&dee accompanied them to watch The Nottingham Panthers at Motorpoint Arena.

me&dee are DNS's chosen charity, from the minute we met with Maria we were completely taken aback by the incredible and life changing work that they do for families going through the hardest of times.

me&dee are a completely self-funded charity and formed in 2006 to offer families the chance to have a much-needed memory holiday in order to create memories, laughs and smiles when they need to the most. Ensuring that the special times will always be remembered.

Their lodge is situated in a quiet and tranquil area within Sherwood Forest and enables families to have a break from medical visits, giving everyone the chance to relax as a family.

Adding to this, we are avid fans of our customer and partner The Nottingham Panthers, we often take the journey down to Motorpoint Arena to watch them hit the ice.

So, Hugh thought it would be a great idea to share our ice hockey enjoyment with me&dee and invited them down to watch The Nottingham Panthers V Fife Flyers.

Hugh Sutherland said,

“We’re always full-on at work, busy in meetings, working on projects and putting in 110. Nights like tonight really make you reflect on what’s important, what others are going through and, what else happens outside the 4 walls of work.”

The amazing me&dee ambassador Taylor, also took to the ice to present man of the match alongside Hugh, he got a fist bump from all the players, and he was delighted to be given the team puck too!

Unfortunately, it was a 2 -1 defeat for The Nottingham Panthers but that didn’t stop everyone having a fantastic afternoon and to top it off mascot Paws even popped in to say hello.

Maria Hanson MBE, founder of me&dee said,

“This was such a fun, warm but emotional afternoon for me. Seeing all of these families together, laughing and making memories when they live such challenging lives.”

We wouldn’t have been able to offer all this without the great help and support from the National Ice Centre & Motorpoint Arena Nottingham, they helped us sort the VIP Box so it was perfect for wheelchair access (they even removed some of the bolted down seating to provide additional space).

And not forgetting a huge shout out to all The Nottingham Panthers players as well as Nicola and Sarah who helped arrange everything – see you at the next game!
