Mechan Highlights Innovations at Innotrans

4th September 2014

Sheffield-based Mechan will be among top rail industry suppliers showcasing the very best of British manufacturing at the world's largest transport trade fair.

The depot maintenance equipment specialist is heading to this month's InnoTrans exhibition in Germany to demonstrate the latest developments in its lifting and handling products. From September 23-26, Mechan will be exhibiting in the British Pavilion hall 2.2, stand 206K at the bi-annual exhibition, held at Messe Berlin, Germany. The firm will have a working version of its patented Megalink controller on display, to demonstrate the flexibility and synchronicity it brings to its lifting jacks. The system is the most technically advanced in its field and allows one operator to set up, raise and lower an almost unlimited number of units simultaneously. The largest system produced to date is a 44-jack chain, which is used to service 11-car Pendolino trains on the West Coast Mainline. Richard Carr, Mechan's managing director, said: -We are really looking forward to catching up with colleagues from across the world at InnoTrans. The show is undoubtedly a highlight in the global rail industry calendar and is a great place to meet new contacts, discover new products and raise awareness of the new developments we have implemented recently. -We are committed to finding ways to increase the safety and efficiency of our products and the changes made to Megalink are a perfect example. The introduction of inverter technology is giving power consumption savings of up to 50%, whilst a new touch screen HMI panel provides the user with constant feedback during the maintenance process. Mechan's jacks are suitable for all types of vehicle, including longer high speed trains and heavy on track plant. The firm also offers a wide range of under floor lifting systems, bogie handling and storage, bogie presses and bogie/wheelset drops.
