Mechan Nominates First Annual Charity
7th March 2012
Sheffield-based heavy lifting specialist, Mechan, is adding its weight to the fundraising efforts of the city's Children's Hospital the firm's first annual charity.
Mechan has pledged to support The Children's Hospital Charity throughout 2012 and will be organising a calendar of fundraising events for staff and clients. To kick off its charity challenge, Mechan donated £350 instead of sending Christmas cards and gifts. It will be working closely with the hospital's fundraisers to build on this contribution and ensure the firm raises as much money as possible. Richard Carr, Mechan's managing director, said: Most South Yorkshire families have needed the help of the Children's Hospital at some point and the team at Mechan is no exception. Despite dealing with international clients, we are proud of our Yorkshire roots and see this as an opportunity to make a positive contribution to the local community. Nominating an annual charity is a new initiative and we are looking forward to having some fun, whilst making a real difference to this city institution. The Children's Hospital Charity has supported Sheffield Children's Hospital since 1976, funding various projects to improve the lives of patients and families by providing specialist equipment, research into the prevention and cure of childhood illnesses, new facilities and improvements to the hospital environment. Tchad Western, corporate fundraiser at The Children's Hospital Charity, added: Backing from the local business community is essential to the success of our campaigns and we would like to thank Mechan for choosing to support us in the year ahead. We will work closely with the firm, to help maximise its fundraising opportunities and encourage clients and suppliers, wherever they are in the world, to get involved.
