More cycling success for Taylor Emmet Partner

18th July 2023

Taylor Emmet Corporate Partner, Charlotte Higgins, is celebrating after setting a new world record at the Masters National Track Cycling Championships.

Charlotte broke the world record in the Individual Pursuit race on her way to her first title of the weekend, beating the previous record by 0.6 seconds, and won two more Gold medals in the scratch race and points race. Her achievements this year come after thirteen previous championship title wins in UK track cycling.

Charlotte said:

“I’m absolutely delighted to win three Golds this year, and to beat the world record by a substantial margin just tops it all off.

“I’ve had to make a lot of sacrifices to reach this level so it’s immensely satisfying to have broken the world record and it makes all the effort and commitment I have put into this sport over the years worthwhile.”

Charlotte combines track cycling with her day-to-day role in Taylor Emmet’s Corporate department, which she joined in December 2022 as a Partner. She is the main point of contact for the rest of the Corporate team and is now widely recognised for her expertise in this practice area, particularly in Commercial Law.

Charlotte added:

“I’ve taken a step up in my career to Partner level at Taylor Emmet, so the fact I am now performing at my highest-ever level in track cycling alongside that is a reflection of the fact that I am given the opportunity to combine my day-to-day career with my passion for competing.

“Although my training takes place outside of working hours, the flexibility the team is given at Taylor Emmet makes a vast difference for me in being able to continue to pursue my passion alongside my career.

“We have been working on some large transactions during the last few months, so the positive work life balance Taylor Emmet offer has been crucial.”

2023 is a big year for Charlotte personally and professionally as she prepares to follow up her success by competing in the World Championships in October.

Charlotte said:

“I often describe cycling as my out-of-control hobby! I’m really pleased that the firm is supporting me to achieve my goals both professionally and personally.”
