Mother’s Day scissors raising vital funds for women’s charity

13th March 2026

Europe’s oldest Scissor manufacturer, Whiteley, are fundraising for YWCA Yorkshire with the limited release of bespoke scissors for Mother’s Day 2026.

Last year, Whiteley raised over £2000 for YWCA Yorkshire by raffling off an exclusive scissor, handcrafted and manufactured from their Sheffield factory. The bespoke design and markings celebrated the strength and resilience of women.  Hundreds of people from across the world made donations to YWCA Yorkshire and were entered into a prize draw to win the one-of-a-kind 12” Tailors Shear.  This month, the kind-hearted scissor manufacturer are raising funds again, with the release of a limited-edition Mother’s Day 8” Classic Fabric Shear. The handcrafted item, complete with a colour-matched handle using the distinctive YWCA Yorkshire iconic purple, is available for just £64, through the Whiteley website. Fifty percent of the retail price is donated directly to YWCA Yorkshire.

Money raised by Whiteley this Mother’s Day, will benefit women, children and families who have experienced homelessness, domestic violence, relationship breakdowns and financial hardship in South Yorkshire.  YWCA Yorkshire works within communities in Rotherham, Doncaster and Sheffield, supporting parents to create better futures for themselves and their children.

YWCA Yorkshire Chief Executive Diane Offers, said: “Mother’s Day is a time for us to celebrate the resilience and strength of our YWCA Yorkshire families. We work with a lot of young mums who, in many cases, don’t have a wider circle of trusted family to support them with parenting – and yet, they are committed to being the very best mum they can be for their children. We are incredibly proud of our mums and grateful for the opportunity to partner again with Whiteley, to raise awareness and funds to support women, children and families to create better futures.

“Whiteley’s heritage, craft and quality are world-renowned, and this limited-edition scissor is going to make a fantastic gift for Mother’s Day. By choosing this gift for your mum, you are helping create real and long-lasting change for families across our region.”

Each purchase of a Mother's Day scissor will fund one full session at YWCA Yorkshire’s Little Blossoms playgroup. The playgroup is where parents, carers, babies and young children connect for free with compassionate, expert and inclusive staff in a safe and family friendly space.

Mother’s Day is on March 15, 2026, you can buy your limited-edition gift from Whiteley and donate to YWCA Yorkshire, here: https://www.whiteley.co.uk/product/ywca-8-classic-fabric-shears/
