Mums In Need's Newest Business Partnership
22nd June 2022
I, Laura Riley Founder & CEO of Mums In Need (MIN), was introduced to Kelvin Quick from China Red through our mutual account manager, Richard Donson, from the Sheffield Chamber of Commerce.
Kelvin and I met at his restaurant and we had an initial chat. Kelvin said that he had been wanting to help a smaller local charity to raise their profile, as he knows that they do not have the funds to spend on marketing/promoting their brand. He thinks that the work MIN is doing is really beneficial to the city and asked if there was there anything that he and his business could do to make this happen.
Through our meeting together, we discussed a number of options and then settled on a solution that would benefit both Mums In Need and also to raise awareness about Kelvin's amazing restaurants China Red. A brilliant idea that wouldn't cost either the business of the charity any money.
How does the partnership work?
- China Red have taken MIN's laminated posters (with some information about the charity and a link to a QR Code that customers can scan to donate if they want to) displayed on each of the dining tables at the restaurant
- Additionally, when staff approach customers to pay their food bill at the end of the meal, they ask the customer if they would like to round up the amount to the nearest decimal point or add a few extra pounds so that Mums In Need can benefit from their help.
- Also, China Red have taken MIN's easy to fit flyers and, on each delivery/Take away, the flyer is added to the food order.
Mums In Need are a busy and vibrant charity that are well known to local business and have been chamber members since 2019, so pre-pandemic. They have a good social media presence which in turn helps local businesses such as China Red.
We are really excited to be working with Kelvin and his team at China Red and we hope to be able to use this as a model to work with future business.
Working together, is easy as we both want to connect with each other and grow each other’s community.
