Networking After Hours - Freeman College
19th August 2012
Join us for a summer event at Freeman College's Butcher Works Gallery, showing contemporary silver design and enjoy light refreshments from the award winning Fusion Café in the Academy of Makers, Sheffield.
Situated in the historic Grade 11* Butcher Works courtyard the Academy of Makers is the cultural development of Freeman College, Sheffield. Freeman College provides specialist education for young people aged between 16 and 25 unable to access mainstream provision in their local college because of learning difficulties associated with autistic spectrum conditions. Adjoining the College's flagship development Sterling Works, Butcher Works is home to the Academy of Makers' craft workshops, Butcher Works Gallery, Fusion Café, the new Ruskin Arts & Crafts shop and is now a visitor destination on Sheffield's Heritage Trail. Thanks to Heritage Lottery and Objective One European funding this cultural development was established to deliver work experience to Freeman College students and promote craft heritage skills. Our Butcher Works Gallery exhibits exciting new examples of fine designs from established and emerging silversmiths and designers working in an array of metals. The Ruskin Arts and Crafts shop sell both student line work along with professional craft makers. Butcher Works Gallery is available for hire and Fusion Café offers private bookings for groups from 30-60 guests. Freeman College is a finalist for the Sheffield Chamber of Commerce Third Sector 2011 Award.
