New Appointment at Sheffield Hospitals Charity

2nd February 2024

Max Newton has been appointed as Director of Fundraising for Sheffield Hospitals Charity.

Max comes with a wealth of experience and has been in relationship fundraising for over 30 years. His fundraising journey started in the city at a Sheffield animal protection charity. He went on to spend 11 years at the British Red Cross where he specialised in working with local businesses, community, and faith-based groups, organising challenge events, and working on large scale emergency appeals.

At Shelter, Max grew the Community Fundraising team from a pilot of four people to 21 across England and Scotland and led the sector in maximising local engagement with national partners.

Max says: ‘I'm incredibly excited to have joined Sheffield Hospitals Charity and to be able to focus all my experience into working with Sheffield organisations and brands to improve healthcare and health inequalities for our people.

Charities are often asking you to help us, but I want to see what we can do to help you. You can spend a lot of money and time organising team building experiences, demonstrating your commitment to the Steel City, and sorting your CSR commitments. We can help you with all three (and more!) –  whilst helping you reach existing and new audiences in Sheffield.

At Sheffield Hospitals Charity we're all about giving people amazing experiences and a warm glow for supporting a great local cause. This can take many forms.

We have a range of challenge events to take part in, which make for really brilliant team building activities. We can put together bespoke fundraising events for you and your staff or provide ideas and practical support to put on your own.

Maybe you'd like to spend time out of the office volunteering to help us with bucket collections at the football, join our SHC cheer squad at the Sheffield Half Marathon, or even help us to collect Christmas trees in January? I

If that doesn’t float your boat, there are other ways to support through your business. We’re always open to practical help with things like meeting spaces, thank-a-thon telephone staff, event venues, helping us raise our awareness or even help with providing branded T-shirts!

I'm passionate about building friendly, long-lasting, mutually beneficial relationships with organisations and individuals across this great city of ours, and my passion for relationship building, Sheffield, its people, and the NHS are the reasons I'm here. I'd love to have a no-strings coffee or informal chat at a Chamber networking event, please feel free to drop me an email max.newton@shct.nhs.uk or contact me on LinkedIn linkedin.com/in/maximon.”

Sheffield Hospitals Charity help Sheffield’s hospitals, community, and social care services to cover costs their NHS budgets can’t. We fund support for patients and staff, life-changing research and more, so that we can enhance care from birth to the end of life and everything in between.
