Northern and Trans-Pennine Express Rail franchises are up for Renewal in Early 2016

3rd July 2014

There is a consultation process at the moment on many aspects of the new franchises and Sheffield Chamber will be responding on behalf of business.

Please read the consultation papers at: http://www.railnorth.org/news/help-shape-rail-services-in-the-north-of-england/ and https://www.gov.uk/government/consultations/future-of-northern-and-transpennine-express-rail-franchises Pass any constructive comments to Peter Kennan at Hawsons Chartered Accountants -pjk@hawsons.co.uk who is co-ordinating the Chamber's response. As these rail franchises are key to many of the rail links from Sheffield, then it is important that a robust response is sent from business in Sheffield. Amongst the key areas are: Overcrowding Service development including new routes and alteration of existing routes Airport links Possible focus on inter urban and commuter flows against rural and off peak services Network capacity Cycles and other ways to make door-to-door journeys on public transport more practical
