Olmec/Surelight Specified On Award Winning Project In Glasgow

6th March 2014

Sheffield lighting specialist, Olmec Advanced Materials/Surelight.

com looks set to work on a second project with architects, Grant Murray, following its first venture with the award winning design group at Maryhill Primary School, Glasgow. The first £3.8 million project, which itself won the Scottish Design Awards 2012 'Affordable Housing' commendation and the Herald Property Awards 201 'Social Housing Development of the Year' commendation, was part of a larger project to transform Viewmont Drive in Maryhill, Glasgow. The innovative conversion of the old primary school into flats brought an exciting mix of old and new to create 'a modern counterbalance to the new streetscape, whilst honouring the key design features of the old school'. And with nothing but the most modern and innovative of lighting systems good enough for Grant Murray's discerning architects, Olmec/Surelight was commissioned in to bring a modern and impressive twist to the building. One of the most progressive lighting companies in the business, Olmec used its single colourArcus LED wall washers (also available in RGB colour changing options), in various lengths to provide a wonderful glow to the 'C' listed building's facade. With the old school located on the highest street in Glasgow, Olmec/Surelight's innovation is seen for miles around, attracting some very envious looks from the area's residents. Olmec/Surelight's managing partner, Paul Lancaster, says -this was a very exciting project to be involved in. Our LED wall washers offer a world of amazing lighting options for domestic and commercial applications; indoors and outdoors and it is fantastic to see them being used in award winning projects.
