PCs for Charity - Affinity Need Your Help!

21st January 2021

When Affinity's PCs for Charity scheme was born in July 2019, following a donation of PCs from a client, they hoped to help several charities in the Sheffield City Region.

Fast forward to January 2021 and since it began we have donated PCs or Laptops to over 40 local charities of all different sizes.

Affinity started 2019 with donations to ten charities and they aimed to donate to a further twenty in 2020, with their target set before the first lockdown. Naturally they doubted they would hit that target due to the restrictions placed on us all, however they evolved to work in a Covid safe way and helped 30 charities during the year.

So far they have passed on over 80 PCs and Laptops and this was in no small way down to the generosity of their clients and friends who donated machines for them clean down and pass on.

Affinity received fantastic feedback from the charities we helped:

For one particular charity, who work with children with terminal conditions, the donation enabled staff to continue to work from home rather than be furloughed due to the lack of IT equipment able to be used from home.

Another donation enabled families who learn with the charity to have access to their online classes due to the lack of a device of their own. In their words “Without these devices these children would not have been able to participate in their music tuition.”

Finally a charity who help homeless and vulnerable adults to “lead fulfilling and enjoyable lives” said “we believe that every person who comes through our doors is an individual with talents, the ability to lead a healthy, sustainable life and having access to a PC whether it is for pleasure or for structured support such as CV writing plays an important part in that relationship building.“

So as Affinity look to 2021 they would love to match that number of thirty charity donations again, however nearly all of the donated stock has now gone and that is where we need your help!

If you have any PCs or Laptops operating Windows 8 or above then Affinity would love for you to donate them to them so they can prepare them to pass onto charities in need.

To donate all you have to do is contact Rich Davies via email: rich.davies@affinityit.co.uk or on 0114 362 7000 (option 2), and they can arrange to get the machines to Affinity so they can pass them onto charities in our region.
