Placement programme for Arabic-speaking students with UK businesses
22nd May 2015
The University of Sheffield Careers Service is undertaking a feasibility study to gauge the potential for a dedicated placement programme to link Arabic-speaking students with UK Businesses.
Arabic and Arabic-speaking countries are increasingly important to British businesses, for example: Arabic is ranked second in the list of top ten languages most important to the UK by the British Council. Six Arabic speaking countries appear among the UK's top 50 export market in goods. UAE, Saudi Arabia and Egypt are identified as priority markets by the CBI. UKTI publish over 1000 opportunities per month across all sectors and over 100 markets in the UAE alone. In order to gauge the level of demand from businesses the Careers Service has produced a short questionnaire and would be grateful if interested parties could please provide their views on the development of such a program.
