Plain sailing for Bestobell at International Ships Conference
1st October 2013
Sheffield-based Bestobell Valves, part of the President Engineering Group (PEGL), had a great response from delegates at the fourth annual Motorship Gas Fuelled Ships Conference held on board the M/S Viking Grace cruise ship recently.
Mark Henley, Managing Director of President Engineering Group Ltd, said: -We had some great enquiries at the Gas Fuelled Ship Conference, with particular interest from American delegates and a number of enquiries for LNG (liquefied natural gas) Carriers. It was a great idea to hold the conference on a ship that runs on LNG, as it really did show its greater fuel efficiency and environmental benefits. It was also a great opportunity to network with professionals from across the marine industry to share knowledge and expertise. A captive audience of 200 delegates from the USA, Canada, Europe, Japan, South Korea, the Middle East and South East Asia were aboard the world's first passenger cruise vessel which is fuelled by liquefied natural gas (LNG). The ship sailed from Stockholm, Sweden through to Turku in Finland and back the following day. The theme of the Conference was exploring the benefits and solutions of using LNG as a maritime fuel and Bestobell Valves was one of the major sponsors. The Gas Fuelled Ships Conference is held annually and is aimed at industry professionals including international ship owners, ship operators, engine manufacturers, shipbuilders, classification societies, ship designers, shipyards and port and terminal operators from around the world. Bestobell Valves is a world-leader in the manufacture of LNG cryogenic valves, with over 50 years industrial gas experience and 15 years' successfully supplying to LNG marine markets. The company's valve technologies are widely used on LNG Carriers, FLNG (Floating Production & Storage Units) and FSRUs (Floating, Storage & Re-gasification Units). The company designs and produces valves to meet specific requirements in the marine sector and has supplied cryogenic valves to a majority of the major shipyards building LNG Carriers.
