Post Office staff equipped for the 21st century thanks to Sheffield Hallam University

30th September 2013

Sheffield Hallam University's Business School has been instrumental in designing a bespoke leadership development programme for one of the UK's biggest employers, The Post Office.

The team were tasked with designing a programme which would take the next generation of information service and strategy professionals to a higher level and equip them with both knowledge and skills to take the organisation forward. Other challenges included focussing on information systems governance, data and knowledge management as well as information process improvement. The course was accredited and gave these managers an initial route into professional development and the potential to continue in the longer term. Kevin Lenihan, Senior Information Services Manager at the Post Office said: -We wanted something ongoing which keeps on delivering. We're delighted with the results so far and looking forward to seeing the learning translated into real benefits in the workplace. Conor Moss, Principal Lecturer and Business Engagement Fellow, said the Business School was unique in its approach to developing programmes for industry. He explained: -We bring in another dimension and our uniqueness is in how we develop these programmes they are never a pre-determined solution. We like to hear what an organisation needs so that we can help them develop solutions and create a programme to match their requirements. -Working with the relevant academic teams, such as the Business, Operations and Systems subject group led by Lucian Tipi, guarantees that our solutions will fully meet client requirements.
