Prestigious gold award fuels growth for Central Technology

8th May 2013

Central Technology is among a handful of regional companies to clinch the gold standard in IT security which will be instrumental in driving their growth.

Chesterfield-based Central Technology which delivers Managed IT Solutions, has been awarded the ISO 27001 standard by the British Standards Institute (BSI). The business, which is responsible for handing clients' sensitive information, appointed business continuity specialist The Agenci - which helps to protect organisations from cyber-attacks and internal threats - to guide them through the stringent accreditation process. Alan Cook, director at The Agenci said: -The IS027001 accreditation is invaluable to IT providers who wish to ass ess and prevent information security risks. It reinforces that a company's people, processes and technology are extremely robust and reflect a commitment to delivering a risk based, quality-driven service that is second to none. A recent report by UK Intelligence Services estimated that the UK is subject to as many as 1,000 'attacks' every hour. These can be simple Phishing scams or direct hacking attempts to break into a PC or network with the ultimate aim of gaining access to personal and private details. Cyber-crime is estimated to have cost the country £35 billion last year with the average victim losing an average of £247. Recognising that many public and private sector organisations will only commission suppliers with ISO 27001 accreditation, Central Technology is looking forward to securing more tenders in key sectors including professional services, manufacturing and education to help accelerate its expansion. MD Ian Snow said: -We have injected substantial investment into securing this standard and the Agenci has been invaluable in guiding us through the process. The powerful feedback we are already receiving from our clients is testimony to the high esteem in which they hold this accreditation.
