Prestigious races return to Owlerton

6th March 2018

Owlerton Greyhound Stadium will host two showpiece events in quick succession this week.

The venue's Juvenile Race on Tuesday 6 March will be broadcast live on Racing Post TV, with some of the most talented up-and-coming greyhounds taking part. Dogs to have won the race previously have gone on to race in the English Greyhound Derby, which this year takes place at Towcester with the early rounds starting in May. Following the Juvenile Race, which will take place during the venue's weekly Tuesday race meeting, will be the early rounds of Owlerton's Queen Mother Memorial Cup. The Cup is one of the stadium's biggest race meetings of the year, with the final coming up on 11 March. Dave Perry, general manager at Owlerton Greyhound Stadium, said: -We're coming up to a bumper time of year at Owlerton, with two huge races and race meetings taking place in very quick succession. -We're looking forward to the Juvenile Race it's a very high-quality event and shouldn't be missed with the first Queen Mother Memorial Cup race meeting taking place very soon after. Both are highlights of the racing calendar here and aren't to be missed.
