Protect the Name of Sheffield!

30th May 2013

As part of its objective to remove the red tape burden the Government is proposing to remove the legislation that protects the name Sheffield.

The Chamber is fully behind the Governments Red Tape challenge and has promoted it because old and redundant legislation costs us money. WE DO NOT SUPPORT THIS PROPOSAL AND WANT YOUR SUPPORT. A petition on the Downing Street website calling for Sheffield's protected name to be kept has been set up following todays article in The Star. Click Here Please go onto the link and sign the petition. We are fighting hard to make the name "Sheffield" synomonous with Quality and Enterprise. Removing this protection will allow any Tom, Dick or Harry to use the name and piggy back on, and probably dilute, that reputation. Please do it NOW!
