Public Invited to 3D Printing Lecture At UTC Sheffield

UTC Sheffield is inviting the public to attend a 3D printing technology lecture organised by industry experts this week.

The Institution of Mechanical Engineers' talk will look at the impact of 3D printing including the challenges and the opportunities. Also known as additive manufacturing, 3D printing refers to processes used to create a three-dimensional object. Alex Reynolds, Principal, UTC Sheffield City Centre campus, said: -Engineering offers a wide range of exciting career opportunities. Our students learn about the latest skills and industry developments, which include 3D printing, so we are delighted to host this prestigious event. Paul Croft, Director of Ultimater and Founder of the Create Education Project, will present the Institution of Mechanical Engineers' Peter Harrison Lecture at UTC Sheffield City Centre campus, on Matilda Street, from 6.30pm to 8.30pm on Thursday, November 9th. UTC Sheffield is a technical school for 13 to 19-year-olds that offers five specialisms as well as GCSEs and A Levels at two campuses in high growth sectors, backed by 70 employers. Students learn in the latest high tech facilities. The curriculum and buildings have been designed with employers who also provide industry projects, work experience and work placements. The UTC is also running a series of showcase events for young people interested in creative and digital, advanced engineering, computing, healthcare sciences and sport science. Students can join the UTC at the age of 13 in Year 9 or aged 14 in Year 10 or aged 16 in Year 12. They study technical and academic qualifications including GCSEs and A Levels.
