PwC Fraud Academy Chronology of a Crisis

17th February 2015

As the 2014 global economic crime survey (GECS) showed, insider fraud is an increasing threat to organisations in every industry and sector.

As well as the perpetual employee fraud threats from expense fraud and asset misappropriation, there is a rising threat from the theft of intellectual property and/or sensitive data, and from employee led or employee facilitated cybercrime. At this event we will follow the chronology of a mock case study, detailing the various touch points and opportunities where an insider fraud can be prevented, mitigated or detected much earlier in the lifecycle. We will also be conducting a survey of our northern fraud academy members on their perceptions of insider fraud and will be sharing these findings at the event. Key topic areas will include: • Pre-employment screening; • The importance of tone at the top and organisational culture • Robust and evolving fraud risk management environments; and • Conducting investigations. The event takes place on 19 March 2015 and will be of interest to a range of practitioners in risk management, internal investigations, compliance, legal and security teams.
