Recession beating business now helping others enjoy growth

18th June 2013

A Sheffield business is helping other organisations to beat the recession after recovering from tough times itself.

Consilient Consulting, based at the Gateway, has enjoyed an increase in work of more than a third compared with the same period last year. The company provides advice and support to approximately 20 businesses and individuals across the country on how to manage a dramatic change, such as an increase or loss of work. To offer a flavour of the support available, Consilient is staging a series of 'Change to Action' leadership workshops in Sheffield, alongside partners Altamira and Easistreet. The intensive three-hour sessions will assist business owners, who know they have to change, to discover what they are going to do and how to lead on implementing it. Brian Lawson, managing director of Consilient, said: -We support individuals, management teams and groups of up to 500 people, anyone who requires guidance on dealing with change. -By making fundamental decisions now on where the business is going will avoid catastrophe happening in the future. -The boot-camp style workshops have been popular and provide an intensive experience for many business owners who struggle to find the time to think properly about dealing with the future of their company. -We suffered a dip in business ourselves in autumn 2011 after seeing three large contracts become small ones all at the same time. But we put what we preach into practice and in recent months we have seen an increase in work to levels beyond where we were before the drop in work. Consilient has been commissioned by a hospice in the south of England to support the senior management team deal with a change in strategic direction following the appointment of a new chief executive Senior staff at the hospice are being delegated more responsibility to cope with a difficult economic climate and the forthcoming major changes within the health sector, so Consilient is providing guidance on how to deal with the transition. Meanwhile, Consilient has been working with a Liverpool-based business which has invested £2m in the creation of a new department team which has to be established and delivering results within six months. The programme involves team building exercises, understanding the goals and creating a strategy to meet the targets set. Consilient Consulting will announce dates for its latest 'Change to Action' leadership workshops in the spring. To find out more call 0114 270 3055 or visit www.consilient-change.com.
